FDNY lieutenant saves dog from burning Elmhurst home during two-alarm blaze - Jackson Heights Post
Briefly

A heroic rescue took place in Elmhurst, Queens, when FDNY Lt. Todd Smith saved a husky named Rocky from a burning home. The fire broke out in a residential building, prompting a swift response from over 100 firefighters. Smith, after battling heavy flames, found Rocky unconscious and managed to revive him. Nearby resident Stephanie Rodriguez assisted with the evacuation of the family and their dogs. Fortunately, no civilians were injured, and the fire was controlled by late afternoon, with investigations into its cause underway.
"I saw the smoke and ran over to help the family and their dogs-Rocky and Sky," Rodriguez said. "But the dog ran back inside. It was terrifying."
Smith found the dog unconscious and covered in soot during a search of the premises and helped revive the animal outside the home.
More than 100 firefighters responded to the scene, using five hoselines to knock down the main body of the fire.
The FDNY Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
