Three pulled from East River after pleasure boat begins to sink near Whitestone Bridge: FDNY QNS

On May 20, FDNY Marine Rescue 4 responded to a mayday call regarding a 32-foot pleasure boat taking on water near the Whitestone Bridge. Crew members acted quickly to rescue three individuals who were clinging to the vessel, one of whom sustained a head injury. Firefighter Tyler Hickey faced harsh currents to make multiple trips to bring the victims to safety. Following the rescue, the victims received treatment on Marine 4 for shock, hypothermia, and other injuries before being handed over to EMS at Fort Totten.
