San Juan, Puerto Rico, has emerged as an LGBTQ-friendly oasis in the Caribbean, with a vibrant arts scene and acceptance of queer travelers. Legalization of same-sex marriage in 2015 and the ability for same-sex couples to adopt has further cemented this status. The author and their husband enjoyed food tours, a lively bar scene, and the colorful atmosphere filled with rainbow flags, all contributing to a sense of belonging and celebration during their visit.

As an openly gay couple, we felt welcomed in San Juan, where same-sex marriage and adoption have been legal since 2015.
