Pinball was banned in New York City from 1942 to 1976 after Mayor LaGuardia led a crusade that resulted in thousands of machines being confiscated and destroyed. A Summer Friday event at the Delacorte Theater offers self-guided tours from 12–4 PM, including behind-the-scenes access, onstage photo opportunities, family-friendly activities, and pet-friendly participation. From 6–8 PM, visitors can picnic with live music, giveaways, and special guests. Untapped New York Insiders receive special access and can learn about the Delacorte from a Public Theater representative, with a chance to win tickets for a 2026 Free Shakespeare in the Park performance.
