The 26th annual St. Pat's for All Parade in Queens, founded by Brendan Fay, focused on inclusivity and LGBTQ+ rights, highlighting recent anti-trans executive orders. The parade featured Grand Marshals Judy Collins and Micky Murray, with significant participation from elected officials, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who spoke on solidarity with Ukraine and Palestine. The event reflects a shift in attitudes toward LGBTQ+ participation, as evidenced by the inclusion of such groups in New York City's St. Patrick's Day festivities, which ended discriminatory practices in 2014.
"We're here today to send a strong message that St. Pat's is for all, New York is for all, and America is for all," said Ocasio-Cortez, emphasizing inclusivity.
"The motto of the St. Pat's for All Parade is 'cherishing all the children of the nation equally,' inspired by the 1916 Easter Proclamation of the Irish Republic."
