"Pride began as protest, and that spirit remains at the heart of everything we do. Marking 60 years since London's first march by hosting WorldPride 2032 would give us the opportunity to welcome the world to our city. It would unite us in solidarity and action at a time when LGBTQIA+ rights are being challenged globally."
"WorldPride is basically a super-sized Pride event, featuring parties, gigs and - of course - parades, as well as all-important human rights conferences. Held every other year and licensed by InterPride, it's designed to promote LGBTQIA+ awareness, visibility and human rights. Since its inception, the event has been held in cities such as Toronto, Madrid and New York."
"A successful bid would result in a huge, 10-day festival replete with opening and closing ceremonies, two marches, the aforementioned human rights conference and more. The change of plan, it says, is intended 'to create a defining moment to honour London Pride's 60-year legacy while creating a global stage to shape the future of LGBTQIA+ rights'."
Pride in London has submitted a bid to host WorldPride 2032, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of London's first Pride march in 1972. The bid, supported by Mayor Sadiq Khan and co-chaired by Outernet Philip O'Ferrall and Pride in London interim CEO Rebecca Paisis, represents a shift from the originally planned 2030 bid. WorldPride is a biennial super-sized Pride event featuring parties, concerts, parades, and human rights conferences, licensed by InterPride to promote LGBTQIA+ awareness and rights globally. A successful bid would bring a 10-day festival with opening and closing ceremonies, two marches, and conferences. Time Out has been confirmed as the official media partner for Pride in London 2026, beginning July 4.
