Organizers confirm pulling WorldPride events from 'inhospitable' Kennedy Center - not canceled by it

As WorldPride approaches in Washington, D.C., the Capital Pride Alliance has clarified the circumstances surrounding the relocation of events from the Kennedy Center due to safety concerns. Executive Director Ryan Bos explained that they proactively moved events, including the AIDS Memorial Quilt display and Drag Story Hour, to the WorldPride Welcome Center over fears of an inhospitable environment. We would not be allowed to have any official drag programming; that defeats the purpose of Pride - in terms of creating a welcoming and safe environment.
If someone doesn't feel comfortable being their true, authentic self, then that's not the venue or space where we want to have an event.
