The city of New York plans to construct a $5 million veterans memorial named "Flames of Honor" on the Queens waterfront to honor those who served in post-9/11 military operations. Mayor Eric Adams announced the project, which includes striking design elements like three metal arcs symbolizing military service and an electrified LED flame, ensuring perpetual tribute. Surrounding enhancements in the area will also improve local infrastructure, promoting remembrance and reflection within a revitalized community space, celebrating national Military Appreciation Month and leading up to Memorial Day.
We cannot call ourselves the greatest city on the globe if we do not give them the tribute and honor they deserve.
With this memorial, we will honor a new generation of souls who gave their lives far too early in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
