MTA's newest generation of dog cops graduate from training

Fourteen canine officers graduated from the MTA Police Department's explosives detection and anti-terrorism training at Grand Central Terminal. Twelve of these dogs will patrol the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, and Staten Island Railway, covering a 5,000-square-mile area across New York and Connecticut. The remaining canines will support local law enforcement. This graduation highlights the MTA's commitment to public safety, as it maintains one of the largest canine explosives detection units in the nation, with approximately 50 dogs serving in this capacity, all named to honor fallen heroes.
