Jermaine Longmire, 45, was sentenced to 13 years in state prison for attempting to rape a 21-year-old woman sunbathing in Central Park on June 24, 2024. The sentence also includes 15 years of post-release supervision. A jury convicted him on March 27 of first-degree attempted rape and sexual assault. During the attack at about 1:30 p.m. in the Great Hills area near West Drive and West 104th Street, he exposed himself, approached the victim, and then tackled and pinned her down while attempting to rape her. The victim fought him off and he fled. DNA and video evidence helped police identify him, and he had multiple prior arrests.
