'Love Story' brings '90s New York back to life - these are the spots you can still visit
"Love Story was based on Elizabeth Beller's book Once Upon a Time, which was helpful, but in a lot of ways Black Rabbit was more 'real' than Love Story because it was entirely fictional. I come from a research background so there's always a lot of research involved, whether it's photographs or books."
Love Story, an FX television series created by Connor Hines, chronicles the relationship between JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy from their 1992 meeting through their 1999 death. Shot entirely in New York State, the production captures the electricity of 1990s Manhattan, featuring iconic venues like Indochine and The Roxy, alongside the era's distinctive fashion and lifestyle. Production designer Alex DiGerlando employed extensive research, including photographs and Elizabeth Beller's bestselling book Once Upon a Time, to authentically recreate the period. The series stars Sarah Pidgeon as Bessette and Paul Anthony Kelly as Kennedy, exploring the turbulent romance of two figures who remain culturally significant for both their relationship and Bessette's enduring style influence.
