Hundreds celebrate annual Pride Festival on Staten Island
Briefly

The annual Pride Festival, hosted by the Pride Center of Staten Island, saw a strong turnout of participants supporting the LGBTQ+ community and kickstarting Pride month. Held at Snug Harbor Cultural Center, over 120 vendors provided food, entertainment, and activities, including performances by queer artists and drag queens. Attendees emphasized the importance of support for marginalized groups, particularly the trans community facing political challenges. Former Pride Center executive director Carol Bullock expressed hope for the future, highlighting progress made while recognizing ongoing efforts needed for full acceptance.
I think it's really important to support our LGBTQ community, especially the trans community right now, when all their protections are being stripped away by our current administration.
(The festival) is just people coming together, community love, celebration, and showing what Staten Island's all about.
There's still a lot of work to be done, but (the festival) gives me so much hope. I just know that a lot of people support us.
