On Saturday evening, Lower Manhattan saw significant protests, including a No Kings demonstration with thousands of participants opposing President Trump's policies. In sharp contrast, a smaller anti-ICE protest unfolded as a group of masked demonstrators rallied against immigrant arrests, leading to confrontations with police who responded with force. The event resulted in at least ten arrests for various offenses, including blocking traffic and violence against law enforcement. This protest coincided with President Trump's birthday and a military parade in Washington, highlighting ongoing tensions surrounding immigration policies.
This came hot on the heels of a massive No Kings demonstration that saw tens of thousands of New Yorkers march in defiance of President Trump and his policies.
While this mass turnout remained peaceful and brought out those of all ages, another protest that evening stood in stark contrast.
Setting off from Zuccotti Park at around 4 p.m., a group of hundreds, largely wearing black ski masks and goggles, railing against ICE for arresting immigrants.
Police arrested at least ten people for blocking traffic and even hurling objects at police during the clash.
