Stability AI release a new audio model that can create six-minute songs | TechCrunch
"The large model is available only through the API and self-hosting paid services. Plus, companies with more than $1 million in revenue would need to get an enterprise license. Many companies, including Google and ElevenLabs, are releasing models and tooling around music generation. However, as Suno and Udio's ongoing court battles have proved, licensing of data and partnerships with music labels could become a key part of the long-term survival of these services."
Stability AI is releasing Stability Audio 3.0, a new family of audio generation models. The lineup includes small SFX and small models with 459M parameters, plus medium with 1.4B parameters and large with 2.7B parameters. The two small models support on-device sound and music generation up to two minutes. The medium and large models can generate full compositions lasting 6 minutes 20 seconds while maintaining musical structure and melodic tone, more than doubling the length capability of Stable Audio 2.0. Small SFX, small, and medium models are available with open weights for use and modification. The large model is available only via API and paid self-hosting services, with enterprise licensing required for companies above $1 million in revenue. Stability AI says the models are trained on fully licensed data and has licensing deals with major labels.
