"(Asked by Colbert who she would want to cover her songs, Clark replied with one hell of a trio: Erykah Badu, Doechii, or the Slits. ) Clark's version is a mostly-faithful take on the original, though she does sub Joe Biden in for Bowie's Richard Nixon. St. Vincent spent most of her 2025 on the road to support her latest album, the Grammy-winning All Born Screaming. You can check out her full Colbert performance below."
St. Vincent performed a cover of David Bowie's 1975 song "Young Americans" on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as part of the Under the Covers series. The cover mostly follows the original arrangement while replacing Bowie's Richard Nixon reference with Joe Biden. Annie Clark first performed the song at the Love Rocks benefit in New York City. Clark named Erykah Badu, Doechii, and the Slits as artists she would like to cover her own songs. St. Vincent spent most of 2025 touring to support the Grammy-winning album All Born Screaming.
