"Adding insult to injury, Dee has recent found out the level of intensity he has dedicated to his life's work has taken its toll on his heart as well. He can no longer push the boundaries of rock 'n' roll fury like he has done for decades. Says Snider, "I don't know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I'd rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.""
Twisted Sister planned a 50th anniversary tour for 2026, their first performances since the 2023 Metal Hall of Fame induction and their 2016 retirement. The band canceled all scheduled shows beginning April 25 in Sao Paulo and continuing through the summer after lead singer Dee Snider resigned due to a series of health challenges. Dee Snider, 70, suffers from degenerative arthritis, has undergone several surgeries, and can only perform a few songs at a time while in pain. Snider also revealed recently discovered heart problems that prevent him from sustaining his previous performance intensity. The tour lineup would have included Snider, founding guitarist Jay Jay French, and longtime lead guitarist Eddie Ojeda. The band's future will be determined in the coming weeks.
