"I wanted to use a photo because photos stay with me in a more familiar way. I also buy a lot of photo books and love to see a well known photographer working with musicians. I've been a big fan of Nick's stuff and something that felt out of reach turned out to be easy and fun."
"The photo feels like it could be any time in history to me. Today. Tomorrow. 50 years ago. 50 years into the future. And I'm not sure if I want to be there or not. It just pulls me in. It's a weird one."
Turnover announced their sixth studio album, Down On Earth, scheduled for May 29 release. This marks their first independent release following 2022's Myself in the Way. The album was produced by Zac Montez, their regular front-of-house engineer. Photographer Nick Waplington created the cover art. Bassist Danny Dempsey explained the choice to use photography, citing his appreciation for photo books and admiration for Waplington's work. The cover image evokes timelessness, suggesting multiple historical periods simultaneously. The band will tour North America starting in June with Narrow Head and She's Green, including festival appearances at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo, plus an aftershow at Warsaw in Brooklyn.
