""There's probably like an album's worth of great Audioslave songs that were not released," said Morello when asked about the unreleased material. "When bands are deciding what songs go on their records and what don't, it's not always sensible. It's not like here's the 10 best jams. Sometimes it's like, someone likes this one, someone's not feeling that one. So, we had from each of the three Audioslave records, we had songs left over, some of which are really great.""
"He continued, "It's not for lack of anything other than that just we don't have it together. There's no plan to not put it out. I would love for it to get in the world, and hopefully it will one day." Audioslave did reunite in January 2017 for their first performance in 11 years, a few months before the tragic death of Cornell. The band played a three-song set at Prophets of Rage's "Anti-Inauguration Ball" in Los Angeles. Following Cornell's passing, Morello and Wilk performed a handful of Audioslave songs at a tribute to the singer in January 2019, with guest vocalists such as Perry Farrell, Brandi Carlile, and Dave Grohl."
Audioslave comprised Chris Cornell, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk and released three studio albums between 2001 and 2007. Approximately an album's worth of unreleased material exists from sessions for each of those records. The unreleased tracks were left off albums primarily due to selection and sequencing decisions rather than quality, and there is no concrete plan currently to release them. Audioslave reunited briefly in January 2017 for a three-song performance, and members later performed songs at a 2019 tribute following Cornell's death. Tom Morello continues to perform solo shows with dates scheduled in late November.
