Thomas Rhett performed a playful rewrite of his song "Life Changes" outside with his guitar while Lauren Akins revealed ultrasound images and rubbed her belly. The couple are expecting their fifth child, bringing their family to five children under ten. Their daughters are Willa Gray, Ada James, Lennon Love and Lillie Carolina. Rhett and Akins previously struggled to conceive, adopted Willa from Uganda, and later learned they were pregnant with Ada. Rhett has described parenting as "controlled chaos" and said the children enjoy watching them grow while being "super critical" of his music.
Standing outside with his guitar, Rhett sings, "While I was wrapping my head around being a dad, / a big wrench got thrown in the plans we thought we had. / Now Lauren's showing. Got one on the way. / That's five under 10. Hey, what can I say? / Yeah, life changes. You wake up ain't nothing the same. Yeah, life changes." As he sings, Akins pulls out her ultrasound images, rubs her belly and smiles.
One fan asked how it was like to have a baby "with three other kids," to which Rhett answered bluntly: "Controlled chaos." In April 2022, Rhett told TODAY during the Citi Concert Series that the best part of being a dad of four is "just watching them grow." However, he also said that the kids have been "super critical" of his music. "They're not really at the phase where they appreciate the lyrics."
