The Two-Timers Club
"At the ripe age of 75 and with a steadily improving bill of health, Phil Collins has become the latest artist to join a very specific and exclusive club within the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: the two-time inductees. There's no special plaque or a wing at the museum for these high rollers of rock - just bragging rights of influence and popularity. So far, only 29 people have ascended to this level above their industry peers, with Collins accomplishing the feat this year due to his solo and Genesis catalogues."
"It's also, weirdly, an accomplishment that has happened more often than not in induction classes over the past few years. Matt Cameron, the deft drummer who's now a free agent behind the kit, was added to the two-timer club's roster at the 2025 ceremony for his association with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Grohl, Tina Turner, and Carole King were granted membership this decade, as was Stevie Nicks just ahead of the pandemic."

"The nominating committee is looking to include at least one name on the ballot that's a true slam dunk each year. When you have somebody like Ozzy, who's already in with Black Sabbath, who's going to argue with him? Even if you're really paying attention, you know we already checked that box.""

Phil Collins became the latest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee to be inducted twice, joining an exclusive group with solo and band catalogues. The Hall of Fame does not provide special physical recognition for two-time inductees, but the status signals influence and popularity. Only 29 people have reached this level, and recent years have seen more frequent repeat inductions. Matt Cameron was inducted twice in 2025 for work with Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, while Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Grohl, Tina Turner, Carole King, and Stevie Nicks were also inducted multiple times in the past decade. Analysts attribute the trend to limited “slam dunks” and a desire to honor major artists before they pass away.
