"The music I composed for Heated Rivalry uncovered a side of me I wasn't certain I possessed, yet one I had always quietly wished was there. I'd never allowed myself such latitude in composition before. Jacob and [author] Rachel [Reid, who penned the book Game Changers on which the show is based] deserved the very best of me, so I gave them every ray of light I had."
"as integral to the series as the actors themselves."
The 34-track Heated Rivalry (Original Series Soundtrack) was released on Friday, January 16. The collection features original music by composer Peter Roy, known professionally as Peter Peter, plus notable needle-drops such as T.A.T.u.'s 2002 anthem "All The Things She Said." Two singles, the upbeat "Rivalry" and the tender "It's You," preceded the full release. The score underpins the romance between hockey players Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams), ranging from yearning motifs to techno-infused beats for erotic scenes. Streams for the featured T.A.T.u. track rose 135% in the US. The soundtrack is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, and show writer/director Jacob Tierney described the music as integral and used Peter's work while writing.
