The Cure Wins Best Alternative Music Performance for "Alone" at 2026 Grammys
"This is the Cure's first ever Grammy. "Simon, Jason, Roger, Reeves, and I would like to thank the Grammys for this wonderful award," singer Robert Smith wrote in a statement, which was read on stage. "We are very honored to receive it. We would also like to thank for everyone who helped in the creation of our Songs of a Lost World single.""
"This year's category pitched three Grammy darlings against two hopeful first-timers: Turnstile and, er, the Cure. While Williams, Bon Iver, and Wet Leg all have multiple statuettes in the trophy cabinet, Robert Smith and the band only picked up one nomination in their acknowledged immortal era-and even then at its tail-end, for 1992's -before another fruitless nod, for Bloodflowers, at the 2001 awards. Their comeback record, Songs of a Lost World, also won Best Alternative Music Album this year."
The Cure won Best Alternative Music Performance at the 2026 Grammys for "Alone," a single from Songs of a Lost World. The single edged out Bon Iver ("Everything Is Peaceful Love"), Hayley Williams ("Parachute"), Turnstile ("Seein' Stars"), and Wet Leg ("Mangetout"). Robert Smith thanked the Grammys and everyone involved in creating the single. The Cure had previously received only nominations in 1992 and 2001. Songs of a Lost World also won Best Alternative Music Album. Hayley Williams, Bon Iver, and Wet Leg each hold prior Grammys, while Turnstile and the Cure were first-time winners in the category this year.
