The Beach Boys Announce New Box Set We Gotta Groove: The Brother Studio Years, Drop Title Track
"Due out February 13th via Capitol/UME, We Gotta Groove spans six discs (three LPs and three CDs) and collects for the very first time The Beach Boys' 1976-1977 recordings at Santa Monica's Brother Studio. The release features a newly remastered edition of 1977's The Beach Boys Love You, the long-awaited release of the perpetually-shelved Adult/Child, and alternates and outtakes from the 1976 sessions for 15 Big Ones. In all, there are 73 tracks, including 35 unreleased cuts."
"According to a press release, the songs here (produced by veteran engineer James Sáez and longtime Beach Boys historian Howie Edelson) are said to have "powered the era's 'Brian's Back!' campaign - launched to re-balance the band's commercial fortunes - which presented Brian [Wilson] as returning to full creative command." Part of this history is covered in the set's 40-page liner notes, with insights from The Beach Boys and the Brother Studio engineering team of Stephen Moffitt, Earle Mankey, and John Hanlon."
