"For me, it's a double honor because I'm getting it for my work with Teenage Cancer Trust. So personally it's wonderful. But for Teenage Cancer Trust, I'm accepting it on behalf of all those people who may never get an honor and without whom we never would have made the success we have made of our charity."
"It is an incredible honor, I was born in the Second World War and grew up in the streets in London. For a kid like me, achieving this, it's a dream."
Roger Daltrey was knighted by Prince William at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. The knighthood had been announced in June and the ceremony took place yesterday. The 81-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer received the honor for musical achievements and charity work with the Teenage Cancer Trust. Daltrey described the award as a double honor, accepting it on behalf of people who helped the charity succeed. He reflected on his upbringing during the Second World War and called the recognition a dream. The Who completed a farewell tour in October with a final show in California.
