Super Furry Animals prep early rarities comp, including tracks from when Rhys Ifans was their singer: hear "Pocket Sam"
"The Welsh indie greats have announced Precreation Percolation, which collects their earliest EPs and singles, plus rare earlier recordings when they were a more electronic rave band. There are also recordings from when their singer was Rhys Ifans, before he decided to move to Hollywood and become an actor and star in movies with Julia Roberts. It's out May 1."
"Precreation Percolation is also a clever name as all the songs here date from before they got signed to Creation Records, and includes their first two EPs for Welsh label Angst which were both released in 1995: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyndrobwllantysiliogogogochynygofod (In Space) and Moog Droog. Those two EPs make up the vinyl version of Precreation Percolation, but the CD contains a bonus disc of an additional 14 tracks, including "2026 Redux" versions of a few songs, and those songs from when Ifans was in the band."
Super Furry Animals will undertake their first tour in a decade later this year, currently scheduled only in the UK with additional shows added and the run concluding at End of the Road festival in Wales. Precreation Percolation compiles the band's earliest EPs and singles plus rare early recordings from their electronic rave era and tracks recorded when Rhys Ifans was the singer. The compilation includes the 1995 Angst EPs Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyndrobwllantysiliogogogochynygofod (In Space) and Moog Droog. The vinyl edition contains those two EPs and is packaged with a CD that features a bonus disc of 14 tracks, including "2026 Redux" versions and demos. The release date is May 1.
