Stevie Nicks revealed her plans for a new album, her first in over ten years, during her acceptance speech at the 2025 Pollstar Awards. Titled a 'ghost record,' she described the seven songs as autobiographical and candid, focusing on real stories from her past. Nicks wrote the album while displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires, feeling the need to return to creative work. She shared a poignant moment with Prince that inspired the album's themes, where his impactful words highlighted the depth of personal connections.
"I have seven songs, and they're autobiographical, real stories where I'm not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life," Nicks said.
"I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days...and I thought, You need to go back to work. And I did."
Nicks pointed to an interaction with Prince that served as the basis for 'where the record began,'...He turned cold and busted out the scripture: 'You always bring me a gift. You never bring me you.'
