Spoon Release New Singles "Chateau Blues" and "Guess I'm Fallin in Love"
Briefly

Spoon released a double A-side single featuring "Chateau Blues" and "Guess I'm Fallin in Love." Both tracks were recorded with producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen. "Chateau Blues" is presented as a lo-fi jam with influences likened to The Kinks meeting The Ramones. "Guess I'm Fallin in Love" is more deliberate while retaining trademark wit, a piss-and-vinegar mentality, and an earnest, beaming heart. The two tunes were created in Austin, TX and Providence, RI. Work on a new album began this year following the usual write-rehearse-record-mix cycle, and the band hinted at additional surprises while preparing to tour with the Pixies.
Both "Chateau Blues" and "Guess I'm Fallin in Love" were recorded alongside producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails, and St. Vincent). The former is a delightfully lo-fi jam - not unlike The Kinks meets The Ramones. Meanwhile, the latter is a bit more deliberate but is still packed with much of Spoon's trademark wit, piss-and-vinegar mentality, and endless beaming heart. Check out the lyric videos for both tracks below.
"We started work on an album this year, and the way that normally goes, we write, we rehearse, we record, we mix, we get it all wrapped up tightly and then start putting songs out into the world," Daniel said in the same statement. "But as we finished up the first two songs for the LP, it crossed somebody's mind, and eventually all of ours, that these two really should come out now. Let's get them out there."
