Jimmie Herrod is a Portland-based singer who performs solo shows, appears regularly as a featured vocalist with Pink Martini, and leads collaborative performances with the Oregon Symphony. Led by Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik, DIVAS: Jimmie Herrod Salutes Jazz plays January 24 and 25 at Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The program features mostly songs Herrod has not previously performed for audiences, with new arrangements, a Judy Garland–style number, and covers of Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Miley Cyrus. Known for vocal control and technical prowess, Herrod values the variety and changing nature of symphonic work.
