Sean 'Diddy' Combs denied bail, will remain at notorious N.Y. prison until October sentencing
Briefly

Sean "Diddy" Combs will remain in federal custody until his sentencing on October 3, as U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian denied his motion for release. Combs has been held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September. The judge found no compelling reasons to release him, rejecting arguments from Combs' lawyers regarding his lifestyle and claims of threats against him. Although concerns about the prison's violent conditions were acknowledged, Combs indicated that staff had ensured his safety.
"Combs fails to satisfy his burden to demonstrate an entitlement to release," Subramanian said in the order, reviewed by The Times. "The motion for bail is denied."
The judge was unswayed by lawyers' arguments, including that Combs shouldn't be punished for his 'swinger' lifestyle or that he's the target of 'ongoing threats of violence' at the MDC.
Subramanian acknowledged that public outcry concerning the conditions at the facility has come from all corners but stated that Combs has claimed MDC staff have been able to keep him safe.
Combs' attorneys insisted their client is not a flight risk, but the judge did not see 'clear and convincing evidence' of this.
