Pusha T Links Up with IDK on Soul-Searching New Song "LiFE 4 A LiFE"
""I made the song with Pusha T in mind from the moment it was finished and sent it to him right away," he explained in a press release. "He told me he was in, and I let it live without pressure. A few months later, right before he released the Clipse album Let God Sort Em Out, he called me. After the call, he sent me a photo of his handwritten verse, then asked for my email and where to send it. Everything aligned naturally.""
"Produced by Kaytranada, the contemplative, soul-searching track features a predictably impressive verse from Pusha T, who taps into the song's theme of protecting one's mental fortitude, even in the face of carceral systems or prying eyes. Buy Let God Sort Em Out on Vinyl/CD "I can't even podcast, giving all my past out," Pusha T raps astutely. "Watching n****s crash out, telling who they ask 'bout/ Interview with anybody sitting in a glass house/ Imma pull that mask out, all you n****s mascots/"
IDK recruited Pusha T for the track "LiFE 4 A LiFE," a preview of the independent mixtape E.T.D.S. - Even the Devil Smiles, due January 23rd. Produced by Kaytranada, the song centers on protecting mental fortitude amid carceral systems and external scrutiny, featuring a measured verse from Pusha T. The collaboration formed organically after IDK sent the finished track to Pusha; Pusha accepted and later sent a handwritten verse. The forthcoming mixtape draws on '90s and 2000s mixtape culture, Black expressionism, and IDK's journey of survival and reclamation after time in the criminal justice system, aiming to prove that creation can breathe in captivity.
