Primus announce new graphic novel 'Frizzle Fry: Phantoms of Barrington Hall'
""The thing about Barrington is... I've said this many times throughout the years and I've written a couple of songs about it... Barrington was like a living entity," Les says. "It was like a living being. You walked in and you could feel it. That's why I tried to really emphasize the notion of this place having a pulse because it felt like a living entity.""
""A logical extension of an ill-advised youth spent tripping balls in the mural-covered walls of my art school's dormitory," and adds, "As a long-time fan of Primus and someone who considers Frizzle Fry to be one of the greatest albums of all time, getting to help bring Les' vision to life on the page was a pleasure and a constant source of unexpected delight.""
Primus will release Frizzle Fry: Phantoms of Barrington Hall on October 10 through Z2 Comics. Les Claypool wrote the graphic novel with illustrations by Cage Claypool and Abimael Hernandez. The book expands Primus' warped mythology with a psychedelic, surreal retelling of the band's early experiences playing shows in Berkeley and the East Bay, centered on the mural-covered Barrington Hall. Les Claypool describes Barrington as a living entity with a pulse. Z2's Rantz A. Hoseley praises the project as an extension of youthful creativity and a pleasure to help realize. Pre-orders and Primus vinyl are available in the BV shop, and the band will tour on the Claypool Gold Tour this spring and summer.
