Chad Hugo filed a lawsuit against Pharrell Williams alleging self-dealing, concealment of material information, and diversion of revenues owed to Hugo from Neptunes and N.E.R.D. ventures. The complaint seeks up to $1 million related to N.E.R.D.'s 2017 album No One Ever Really Dies and alleges more than $575,000 owed from a merchandising arrangement since fall 2023. The filing expands a separate 2024 trademark dispute and asserts that Williams has withheld royalties and refused to provide documents needed to calculate amounts due. Hugo's legal team says Hugo sought monthly statements, books, and records beginning in 2021.
