Panda Bear & Sonic Boom announce new album 'A ? of WHEN' which won't be released to streaming services
Panda Bear & Sonic Boom announced A ? of WHEN, a follow-up to their 2022 album Reset, releasing July 10 via Domino. The release will be available on vinyl, CD, cassette, and as a digital download, but not on streaming services. Limited edition pink biovinyl is offered through the BV shop. The duo framed the album around change, connectivity distractions, and algorithmic culture, while emphasizing a return to real connectivity. They plan fewer online elements, including no streaming, no videos, and a minimization of online everything. They encourage joining offline through radio, live shows, listening parties, Q&A sessions, and real life interactions. The album artwork is by Julian House, and a tracklist and listening party dates are provided.
"Change. Exciting & frightening at the same time. The slow slips & the big shifts. Highs & lows from the distraction of connectivity. AI slop becomes an AI slope. Algorithm tables & algorithms tumble. We're taking things a little off piste. More rock n' roll than flick & scroll... From here on in we're getting back to a place of real connectivity and as you might have noticed from our new "Graveyard"/"Lucky Charm" 7" (only available from record stores) there's no streaming, no videos, and a minimisation of online everything."
