"We left off last time ( in part one, which you can read here) with "The Sound of Us" - the "Us" in question being Resonance Ensemble and Fear No Music, plus the various Portlandic composers they're bringing together for this concert: Bora Yoon, Cecille Elliott, Renée Favand-See, Sydney Guillaume, Lisa Neher, Stacey Philipps, Joan Szymko, and Caroline Shaw. Here's what we said about them last week:"
"The Portland chapter was founded last year by Oregon Symphony principal clarinetist James Shields, a long-time member of the Albuquerque group, and has been presenting well-attended morning concerts for the last fifty-odd Sundays in the Pacific Center building on Southwest Sixth Avenue in Downtown Portland (right on the famed Tri-Met Transit Mall, next door to the infamous Pioneer Courthouse Square, about halfway between Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Fogo de Chão)."
The Sound of Us brings Resonance Ensemble and Fear No Music together with Portland composers Bora Yoon, Cecille Elliott, Renée Favand-See, Sydney Guillaume, Lisa Neher, Stacey Philipps, Joan Szymko, and Caroline Shaw. The concert takes place October 24 at Benson Polytechnic High School Auditorium in Northeast Portland. Tickets and additional information are available online. ChatterPDX presents a pair of shows over consecutive Sundays and aims to be a community 'church of music.' The Portland chapter was founded by Oregon Symphony principal clarinetist James Shields and has presented well-attended morning concerts for about fifty Sundays at the Pacific Center on Southwest Sixth Avenue downtown.
