Nxdia on going viral and 'unreal' Reading Festival reception
""It was amazing, and then the stage? Oh my god, I had so much fun. "I was so surprised because Limp Bizkit and Becky Hill were playing at the same time. I was like, 'I feel really confident right now'," Nxdia joked self-deprecatingly, "but it was a massive crowd, and they were really up for it, so raring to go and just being so lovely. I loved it.""
"Despite their already huge following - Nxdia has more than a million followers on TikTok - fame is still a "weird" concept to them, describing it as "insane" and "mad". "I feel exactly the same in a lot of ways because, unfortunately, especially, I always feel like myself. "But I think... I don't know, it's weird. I'm not used to it!""
Nxdia, a 25-year-old Manchester-based Egyptian-Sudanese alt-pop artist, performed on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading Festival to an enthusiastic crowd. Their viral track "She Likes a Boy" reached over 65 million Spotify streams and boosted a TikTok following of more than one million. Nxdia released a debut mixtape, I Promise No One's Watching, and performed across summer festivals including BludFest, Latitude and Brighton Pride. A sold-out headline tour is scheduled for October, followed by a support slot for Cat Burns in November. Nxdia described fame as "weird", "insane" and "mad" while enjoying live performances.
