Motley Crue's Vince Neil Reveals He Suffered a Stroke Last Christmas
"My whole left side went out... I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough. The doctors said they didn't think I'd be able to go back on stage again. I go, 'No, no, I'm gonna do it. Watch and see.'"
"They said I wouldn't be back on stage again. I said, 'Fuck that, man.' And I'm back and I'm with you guys tonight. And I'm really proud to be here, man."
"I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn't walk myself, finally to a wheelchair. I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane. Now I don't need anything. But it's like a full-time job getting back to where you feel good again."
Vince Neil suffered a stroke last Christmas that left his left side impaired and required him to relearn how to walk. Doctors initially expressed doubt that he would be able to return to performing. He progressed from being carried to a wheelchair, then to a walker and a cane, and regained independent mobility through intensive rehabilitation and running with a local football coach in Nashville. He returned to the stage with a solo show in Boston on August 1 and expressed determination to perform again. Mötley Crüe rescheduled their Las Vegas residency to run September 12 through October 3 at Dolby Live at Park MGM.
