Morrissey to Kick Off 2025 North American Tour
"After the former Smiths frontman launches the tour on Wednesday, he'll make stops in cities including Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Berkeley, Tucson, and more throughout September and October. The trek is set to conclude with a special show in Los Angeles alongside Social Distortion at the newly-mounted Intuit Dome on October 25th; afterwards, he'll head to Mexico and Latin America for another run of shows until November 22nd."
"Morrissey has been regularly embarking on tours in North America and beyond, though the singer and songwriter is notorious for his frequent show cancellations and postponements. The tour also arrives as Morrissey seeks an investor to purchase his entire stake in The Smiths, including his rights to its name, songs, merch, and publishing. He and his Smiths bandmates have been feuding for years decades, making the potential sale of Morrissey's stake a final separation from the band."
""I am burnt out by any and all connections to Marr, Rourke, Joyce. I have had enough of malicious associations," Morrissey wrote in a recent statement. "With my entire life I have paid my rightful dues to these songs and these images. I would now like to live disassociated from those who wish me nothing but ill-will and destruction, and this is the only resolution.""
Morrissey will start a 2025 North American tour in Montreal on September 10, with stops across Canada and major U.S. cities, concluding October 25 in Los Angeles; he then plays Mexico and Latin America through November 22. He will pause through New Year’s and resume postponed U.S. dates in January after earlier shows were delayed by a severe sinusitis attack. Morrissey has a history of frequent cancellations and is seeking an investor to buy his full stake in The Smiths, including rights to the band’s name, songs, merchandise, and publishing amid long-running disputes. His most recent album was 2020’s I Am Not a Dog on a Chain, and he is working on a follow-up.
