"This book is about the decade that defined me and my generation, 1991-2001, and my life in the rock bands which allowed me to have a front row seat to an incredibly visceral and unforgettable moment in the counterculture,"
"It's a love letter to the power of music and one-of-a-kind voices that make the world a cooler place; it's also an ode to the analog, and what magic has been lost. Sharing what our generation witnessed, and what the world once was,"
"part coming-of-age autobiography, part travel diary, part psychedelic scrapbook."
"pull[ing] you onto the dance floor with the darkest, sweetest synths from the '80s ʻtil present."
Melissa Auf der Maur will release her first book, Even the Good Girls Will Cry, on March 17 and will support it with a multi-city book tour. The tour begins at Strand Bookstore in New York City with a conversation featuring Naomi Fry, then visits Basilica Hudson in Hudson, New York, Toronto, Chicago, and Montreal before a UK leg in early April. Events will be intimate evenings with readings, conversations, book signings, and a xMAdMx Darkwave DJ set featuring Auf der Maur. The book blends coming-of-age autobiography, travel diary, and psychedelic scrapbook and includes rare behind-the-scenes photos from her career beginning with Tinker. Pre-orders are ongoing.
