Maynard James Keenan Thinks It's "Depressing" Alex Honnold's Tool Playlist "Overshadowed" His Actual Climb
"It's actually depressing that what gets the attention is not the fact that this idiot is climbing that building, which is still impressive, it's the playlist,"
"But For him, all his accomplishments get overshadowed by a rock band that can't put out records in a very timely fashion. That's pretty weird."
Maynard James Keenan called attention on Alex Honnold's Tool-centric playlist depressing and said it overshadowed Honnold's climb of the Taipei 101 skyscraper. Keenan characterized the physical feat of scaling the building live on Netflix as still impressive despite the focus on the playlist. Keenan added that Honnold's accomplishments get eclipsed by a rock band that "can't put out records in a very timely fashion," and called that situation pretty weird. Honnold's playlist featured Tool tracks including Forty Six & 2, Invincible, The Grudge, Lateralus, and Schism. The climb occurred last month.
