Mayhem Announce New Album Liturgy of Death, Unleash "Weep for Nothing"
"The seven-minute track is a smothering piece that shifts between atmospheric blasting, slower doomy sections, and even a bit of prog toward the song's latter half. Prolific vocalist Attila Csihar exercises both harsh rasps and operatic clean vocals, keeping with the variation in the arrangement. For this album, Mayhem's lineup remains consistent with that of their 2019 LP Daemon and features Csihar, longtime members Necrobutcher (bass) and Hellhammer (drums), and guitarists Ghul and Morten (aka Teloch)."
"The black metal pioneers are set to support Liturgy of Death with the "Death Over Europe" headlining tour, which kicks off on February 5th in the Netherlands. The support bill features Marduk and Immolation. Get tickets here. Mayhem's forthcoming album follows the release of the Daemonic Rites live album in 2023, with 2021's Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando EP and the aforementioned Daemon full-length being the band's most recent studio work. Pre-order Liturgy of Death physically via Century Media and digitally via Bandcamp. You can stream "Weep for Nothing" below."
Mayhem will release their seventh studio album Liturgy of Death on February 6. The lead single "Weep for Nothing" is available to stream and runs seven minutes, shifting between atmospheric blasting, slower doomy sections, and progressive elements. Attila Csihar alternates harsh rasps and operatic clean vocals to match the varied arrangements. The recording features the same lineup from 2019's Daemon: Csihar, Necrobutcher (bass), Hellhammer (drums), and guitarists Ghul and Morten (Teloch). A "Death Over Europe" headlining tour begins February 5 in the Netherlands with support from Marduk and Immolation. Physical pre-orders are through Century Media and digital via Bandcamp.
