"'I compare my stuff to his, and I'm like a little kid with toy blocks.'"

Lukas Nelson prepared for a show behind his new solo LP American Romance while waiting on a takeout dinner. American Romance offers philosophical songs about life, love and the road and was recorded at Sunset Sound near the Fonda Theatre. The album was produced with Shooter Jennings and carries familial connections through Nelson's father Willie and Jennings's father Waylon. The record earned a Grammy nomination in the traditional country album category and competes alongside Willie Nelson’s Oh What a Beautiful World. Shooter Jennings praised Lukas's lyrical depth and both musicians reacted lightheartedly to the family nomination dynamic.
