Lou Gramm on Reuniting with Foreigner, Opening the Vault, and Rocking into a New Era: Podcast
"When I found out they were going to be finished and included in this package, it was a real pleasure to put the 24-track on and hear the sounds as they were back in that day."
"We ended up matching the vocal sounds to a tee,"
"They let me pick first. I just pick some of my favorites that I like singing."
"I made the conscious decision that that's not what I wanted anymore for my life," he says of leaving behind the backstage chaos, adding with pride, "I've been about 34 years sober now."
Lou Gramm returns to the stage for select Foreigner 50th-anniversary dates while preparing a new solo album. Gramm rediscovered unfinished tracks from the 4-era and played the original 24-track reels to recapture the period sounds. Gramm matched his original 1981 vocal tone to finalize those songs and selected favorite tunes to perform with the band. Gramm credits roughly 34 years of sobriety with reshaping his life and work. The upcoming solo album, due in March, blends newly written material with older songs finished after decades, delivering a hard-rocking mix of past and present.
