Lorely Rodriguez, known as Empress Of, wrote "Dream House" after her family home was destroyed in the 2025 California wildfires. Following the tragedy, she traveled to Norway, where she felt a sense of loneliness. During this time, she created a voice memo while playing piano, which sparked the inspiration for the song. Rodriguez's latest album, For Your Consideration, was released in 2024, and she previously shared a single titled "Blasting Through the Speakers."
