"As many of you may be aware, a few months ago I had to reschedule my American tour because of health issues as I was diagnosed with the neurological disorder 'normal pressure hydrocephalus' and following hospitalised operational tests in September, I had the necessary corrective 'shunt' brain surgery last week which I am pleased to say was very successful and I am now recuperating at home being cared for by my lovely wife and our wonderful furry healing animals!"

Rick Wakeman was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus and underwent corrective shunt brain surgery after hospitalised operational tests. The surgery was successful and he is recuperating at home with support from his wife and their therapy animals. He must take things easy but his surgeon cleared him to travel to America for his rescheduled tour in March 2026 and to perform future engagements, including two Saving Strays charity concerts on December 19 and 20. Wakeman reported that his piano playing appears unaffected. Normal pressure hydrocephalus can cause walking, bladder control, and memory problems and has also affected Billy Joel.
