La Securite announce new album 'Bingo!,' share title track
"For the cover, the concept is that Bingo is as much an exclamation, as an outcome or a dog. Melissa didn't want it to be too 'on the nose'-like a Bingo game in a social club-but she thought it good to keep elements of the game and combine them with nods to conversations that the different members of the band have had between them."
"'Bingo' was a working title Melissa used to save the demo when we were working on the song. The lyrics came later following a suggestion from Félix to describe a game of Bingo, to put into words the social life from an old folks home-elderly people that are young at heart, hence the references to Orange Crush, little hats, etcetera. The bass line and its tone are a tribute to Death From Above 1979."
"Bingo! 1. Snack City 2. Deny 3. Detour 4. Power Snoozer 5. Princesse 6. Bingo 7. Chill Pill 8. Trixie 9. Nah Nah 10. La Sécurité will release the album Bingo! on June 12 via Bella Union and Mothland. Félix Bélisle and Emmanuel Éthier produced the record. The music shifts between styles rather than adhering to a single genre, incorporating post-punk, riot grrrl energy and new-wave textures. The cover concept mixes Bingo-game elements with conversational nods among band members. The album features singles “Detour” and “Ketchup” and a title track whose lyrics evoke lively social life in an old folks home; the bass tone on that song pays tribute to Death From Above 1979. A UK and European spring 2026 tour is scheduled.
