Christie's announced the exhibit and sale as part of the dispersal of Jim Irsay's collection. The guitar was used on Nirvana's Nevermind and In Utero, was purchased from Voltage Guitars around 1990 or 1991, and appeared at live performances. The instrument is expected to fetch $2.5 to $5 million. Irsay's holdings include guitars and artifacts linked to John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Prince and dozens more music icons.
