Joshua Ray Walker announces third album in cancer recovery trilogy, 'Ain't Dead Yet'
"That whole year I just felt awful and like I was dying. I didn't feel right, and mentally I was off, like there really was something wrong the whole time. So I think the reason some of these songs feel the way they do is because I felt that way, even though I didn't know something was wrong yet."
"It's a powerful country rock song that veers a little closer to Joshua's earlier material compared to the beach country of Tropicana and the indie-inspired Stuff, and it's another great one from a songwriter who rarely misses."
Joshua Ray Walker wrote three albums while undergoing chemotherapy and has announced his third album, Ain't Dead Yet, releasing May 29 via East Dallas/Thirty Tigers. He began writing this album before his cancer diagnosis, noting that songs reflect the physical and mental struggles he experienced during that undiagnosed period. The album closes with "Thank You For Listening," the 2023 song where he publicly revealed his diagnosis. Walker recently shared "Capital Letters," a country rock track returning to his earlier musical style. He is performing multiple SXSW shows in March 2026 and has scheduled tour dates throughout spring, including appearances at venues across Texas and beyond.
