Josh Freese Announces Just a Minute Vol. 2 Album Featuring Single "Cybertruck LOL"
"Earlier this year, the prolific drummer (currently of Nine Inch Nails and formerly of Foo Fighters) teased the LP with the track "Cybertruck LOL," a super catchy power-pop tune poking fun at the conspicuously angular Tesla vehicle. Freese impressively manages to cram in a ton of hooks before the minute mark, including a circle back to the chorus. "This is the Kill Bill 2 of rock records," Freese declared in a press release."
"Described in the press release as a "rapid-fire rollercoaster of genre-bending micro-anthems," there's a very Ween-esque approach here, with Freese apparently even paying homage to the group with a track title "Wasted with the Ween." Elsewhere, we get more humorous and irreverent song titles, such as "I Didn't Know I Recorded with Avril," "Kenny Loggins' Naked Wedding," and "Tijuana Boob Job," to name a few."
Josh Freese will release Just a Minute Vol. 2 on November 28 via Stone Gossard's Loosegroove Records. The album contains 25 songs that each run roughly 60 seconds, totaling about 25 minutes, and follows an initial collection released nearly five years earlier. Freese, currently of Nine Inch Nails and formerly of Foo Fighters, previewed the record with the single "Cybertruck LOL," a power-pop take that satirizes the angular Tesla vehicle while packing multiple hooks under a minute. The collection emphasizes short, genre-blending micro-anthems with playful, irreverent titles and nods to other artists.
