"When left to his own devices, that kinda darkness of 'I am less than, I suck, I'm not worthy' would really take over."
"Ross said to me after the final show in Birmingham... every gig that he ever shot your dad, going all the way back to the '70s... your dad would be like, 'I was terrible. I'm so embarrassed, I can't believe these people are cheering for me.' And he said the last gig was the only time he didn't say that."
"Oh, he was so happy. It was the craziest thing. I ran into the dressing room, and I was like, 'You did it!'."
"I'm only crying because of [my father's] joy. He was so happy."
Jack Osbourne became emotional while recalling his late father Ozzy Osbourne's reaction to his final concert and noted Ozzy's recurring feelings of being 'less than' and unworthy. Longtime photographer Ross Halfin observed that Ozzy routinely downplayed performances for decades, but did not do so after the Birmingham 'Back to the Beginning' finale. Jack said Ozzy was unusually happy after that show and celebrated the achievement in the dressing room. Ozzy performed his last solo and Black Sabbath sets at that concert and died 17 days later. Jack recalled that Ozzy had a normal morning the day he passed.
