Fat Mike combined a confrontational, irreverent public persona with substantial industry responsibilities. He performed stunts and insults that courted scandal, from provocative stage pranks to controversial remarks. As owner of Fat Wreck Chords he oversaw releases by NOFX and many other bands, and he acknowledged the significant responsibility that role entailed. The band has stopped touring and the label was sold to Hopeless Records, allowing him new creative opportunities. He co‑founded the Punk Rock Museum in 2023, which mounted a NOFX retrospective displaying ephemera that documented the band's independent history and accomplishments.
